Stained Glass Window is a tone poem for large orchestra and organ. It was commissioned and premiered by the Game Music Ensemble of L.A. (GMELA) and sponsored in part by UCLA’s Game Music Ensemble. This is a video of the premiere at the First Baptist Church in L.A. by GMELA, inaugurating the Estey Pipe Organ in November of 2023.

This work invites audiences to imagine light passing through a stained glass window one photon at a time until dawn triumphantly arrives.

On A Glacial Lake is a choral work with text and music composed while on residency at Lacawac Sanctuary in Pennsylvania. The piece is made up of brief vignettes describing images and ideas encountered while hiking on the Lacawac trails. Each movement depicts something new, and features text-painted and other choral devices to communicate the natural landscape of the lake, which remains unaltered by humans.

This work was premiered by Into The Light Ensemble at Newton, MA in 2023.

…you, are a Photon is a chamber piece for B-flat clarinet, piano, and narrator. This piece sets the text of an original poem of the same name. During the premiere by Haven Trio, the narrator took the audience on a journey from the dawn of time to end of the universe, taking the perspective of a single photon of light.

This work is a unique blend of music, storytelling, and actual science, exploring the temporal nature of light as it bends space and time, observing the fragility and beauty of humanity.
